The Alternergy team joined as resource persons at the recently concluded POWERTRENDS 2025 International Business Forum, held on October 2–3, 2025 at the New World Makati Hotel, Metro Manila. The event was organized by Leverage International (Consultants) Inc., bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss urgent challenges and critical risks facing the power sector, particularly the renewable energy industry.

Speaking at the forum, Gerry P. Magbanua, President of Alternergy Holdings Corporation, emphasized the need for strong infrastructure and consistent policies to achieve the government’s renewable energy share target by 2040.

“We need to build and grow a robust transmission and substation network where renewable energy resources are, alongside a stable offtake arrangement. Institutionalizing the green energy auction will be a strong enabler, leveling the playing field for developers both big and small.”

Meanwhile, Engr. Neil Richard Tanguilig, Senior Project Manager of Alabat Wind Power Corporation, underscored the importance of engineering innovations and logistical planning in rolling out large-scale wind projects.

“From transport logistics to site preparation and turbine installation, every step is critical as we bring in the largest wind turbine generators in the Philippines, each with 8 MW rated capacity. These are now being installed in Alabat, Quezon and Tanay, Rizal.”

With its theme “The Energy Transition Showdown: Decrypting Risks and Rivalries in the Shifting Power Map,” POWERTRENDS 2025 provided a crucial platform for discussions on grid security, renewable energy integration, regulatory risks, and innovations shaping the country’s energy future.

As the Philippines’ longest-running energy exhibition and forum since 1995, POWERTRENDS has established itself as a premier platform for government and private sector collaboration. Over the years, it has consistently drawn global and local leaders to engage in dialogue on sustainable energy, policy reforms, and cutting-edge technologies.
