Renewable power pioneer Alternergy Holdings Corporation (Alternergy) announced that it has sealed a P2.4 billion co-investment for 40% stake in its Tanay and Alabat wind projects from ABC Energy Inc., the energy holding subsidiary of listed A Brown Company Inc.
Alternergy will retain 60% majority ownership of its 128 MW Tanay and 64 MW Alabat wind projects, both in advanced construction stages set for completion by early 2026.
The two Alternergy wind projects will be the first completed wind projects awarded during the 2nd Green Energy Auction under the current President Marcos Jr Administration.
Proceeds from the co-investment is in line with Alternergy’s capital raising strategy to fund its project pipeline in wind, solar, run of river and battery storage.
The investment by ABC Energy marks a significant step in expanding its renewable energy portfolio, following the divestment of its coal power interest in Palm Concepcion Power Corporation in July 2025.
In a joint disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), ABC Energy Inc. will acquire a 40% equity stake in each of two Alternergy project companies, Alternergy Tanay Wind Corporation (ATWC) and Alabat Wind Power Corporation (AWPC). Alternergy’s wind holding company, Alternergy Wind Holdings Corporation, will retain majority 60% ownership in ATWC and AWPC.
Proceeds from the co-investment is in line with Alternergy’s strategy to recycle capital to fund its project pipeline in wind, solar, run-of-river and battery storage.
“We are pleased to welcome ABC Energy as our minority partner in our Tanay and Alabat projects”, said Gerry P. Magbanua, president of Alternergy. “A Brown has a proven investment history in energy and resources development. We also acknowledge the Brown family’s longstanding presence of over 90 years with the progressive municipality of Tanay”, he said.
Paul B. Juat, President of ABC Energy said, “We look forward to partnering with Alternergy, the pioneer in wind energy in the Philippines, on these landmark projects. Our P2.4 billion investment represents the largest single investment across the A Brown Group to date and aligns with our strategy to accelerate green energy initiatives. A Brown is also present in Tanay through its real estate holdings and development activities, contributing to the area’s continued growth.”
