Alternergy recently marked a significant milestone with the arrival of the first shipment of wind turbines and components for its Tanay Wind Power Project. In celebration, the company spent a meaningful day with the people of Brgy. San Andres—the host community for the project—by officially launching its corporate social responsibility program, KAHALIGI, short for Kasangga ang Alternergy sa Pagtindig ng Buhay at Bayan.

Derived from the Filipino word haligi, meaning pillar or foundation, KAHALIGI embodies strength, reliability, and enduring support. The program is anchored on five pillars: environment (kapaligiran), health (kalusugan), education (karunungan), livelihood (kabuhayan), and emergency preparedness (kaligtasan)—a holistic commitment to nation-building alongside clean energy development.

During the event, Alternergy distributed sacks of rice, groceries, and snacks to 535 households. The celebration was filled with joy and camaraderie, with raffle prizes such as a two-burner stove, rechargeable electric fans, and mini karaoke sets. Alternergy also continued its monthly assistance to hiking guides and provided compensation to Indigenous Peoples (IPs) for crops and trees affected by the project.

In his special message to Alternergy team members, Alternergy Chairman Vince Perez shared, “Today’s activity is a heartwarming reminder of what truly matters. After all the recent challenges, this gathering reaffirms the essence of Alternergy’s Quadruple Bottom Line philosophy. In Tanay, as in all our project sites, we are guests of the host community. They welcome us into their neighborhood, and in return, we come not just with projects, but with food to share, regalos as pasalubongs, and support for the IPs and hiking guides whose lives we’ve touched. I’m proud of the entire team today. Let’s keep the spirit of KAHALIGI alive and encourage more of our colleagues to join future activities.”

Alternergy's launch of the KAHALIGI CSR program in Brgy. San Andres is a commendable way to build community relations while furthering clean energy initiatives. Their multi-pillar approach, notably with supporting livelihoods, education and indigenous rights as major components, is a solid model of corporate responsibility. It is uplifting to see other businesses in other sectors, such as an effective fm service provider UK, adopt a similar model to the communities they serve.
